The Sony Ericsson phones were stylish and known for their impeccable sound system. It was later re-branded as Sony Xperia. The first phone in the series Xperia X1 was launched in 2008. Xperia phones were a great competition to other smartphones as they provided excellent features with a mid-range affordable price for masses. It would be excellent to see if the new phone that is already causing buzz will stand true to the expectations or not. There are many areas where the company has introduced lots of changes, and hence the experts in the market have great expectations from this device.

Design and Display

As far as looks are concerned, Xperia E5 is a sleek and long phone just like other phones of the same category and price range. It has a 5-inchbroad displaywith 69.4 screen to body ratio making it quite a big phone with dimensions of 144x69x8.20 or 5.67 x 2.72 x 0.32 in inches (height x weight x thickness). It has an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 M colors. This beautiful device weights 147 grams which make it very sleek and light to carry unlike some other phones from different brands with same dimensions.

The phone is available in just 2 variants of classic White and Black. Xperia E5 has a resolution of 720x1280 pixels which can be considered fairly good. This device is available in 2 variants of single as well as dual SIM. It has multi-touch up to 4 fingers and a scratch resistant glass.


Xperia is an Android phone with Android version 6.0.1 Marshmellow. The phone runs on MediaTek MT6735 chipset which makes it great for high-end games or videos. The device runs on quad-core processor 1.3 GHz Cortex- A53 along with GPU T720MP2.


The camera of Xperia E5 is one of its commendable features. It has an excellent primary as well as thesecondary camera. It is supported by a 13 MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Only a few phones of mid-range price have a 13 MP rear camera, and Xperia E5 can definitely attract people for whom a good camera is mandatory in their cell phones. It has the music play capacity of 65 hours.So, the user can enjoy some quality time with this device.


The options for connectivity on this device include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Hotspot and Wi-Fi- direct as well as Bluetooth v4.1, A2DP, aptx. The phone is enabled with GPS, FM Radio and a 3.5 mm jack along with loudspeaker. The phone has Accelerometer, Compass, and Proximity sensors as well for a better experience in the mid-range device.


The Xperia E5 is expected to be launched at Rs.14990. The phone will get an excellent positioning with amid-range price and impeccable features. However, few other brands with their mid-range handsets can offer competition to Xperia E5.

Since the phone has not been launched yet, it would be little difficult and early to comment on the performance of the phone and user experience. But, the features of phone do make it sound promising, and of course, it is backed by the Sony Xperia franchise. So, only time would tell if Xperia E5 wins hearts with its features or fails to impress. After all, it is from a big name in the industry of telecommunication.
